BUX Podcast #65: When The Map Disagrees With the Ground, the Map is Wrong

Hey there all you podcast listeners. We’ve been listening to your feedback and we’ve discovered a few things.

1. Jenna doesn’t like all the cussing and I’m sure she’s not alone.

2. The podcast seemed to run long and that hurt its value to you guys. It’s hard to fit an hour podcast into your weekly schedule, especially if you’re not sure how much you’re going to get out of it.

So we’re trying something new: BUX Minicasts. These are quickie podcasts that focus on one idea. We’re keeping them under 10 minutes (or at least trying hard to) so you can get in your weekly dose of UX without having to sit through an hour’s worth of material.

In this minicast, we tackle the first rule from the book “Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart: 30 True Things You Need to Know Now” by Gordon Livingston. It’s simple: When the map disagrees with the ground, the map is wrong.

As business owners, or website owners, we often start with our own ideas without checking with our potential customers before we launch a new product or service. This is a map/ground issue. More in the podcast!
