Over the summer we tried to get Alana Lee on the podcast to discuss her ethnographic work. She’s an anthropologist and ethnographer from Chicago, IL whose work centers around interviewing and documenting West African domestic workers.
I wanted her on the podcast because as part of user-testing, we can conduct 1-on-1 interviews. I knew that she could shed some light on how to pick subjects, interviewing techniques, and other tidbits to help us be better interviewers.
I was not disappointed.
My favorite tip? If you’re looking for a group of the same kind of people, look for one person who can connect you with who you are looking for. It will save you a lot of time and effort if they will seek out others on your behalf.
