Advertise on a Better User Experience

Last updated on May 13, 2013

Do you have a product or service that appeals to UX professionals? Then we might be a valuable advertising resource for you.

About Us

We’re a fast-growing website based around all things web usability and user testing. We currently add two new posts and one new podcast per week.

We began in August 2010 as a  learning project by two web developers – Ben Snyder and Newman Lanier – to learn more about web usability. We’ve since added Jenna Curry and have grown into a trusted authority for information on creating a better user experience. As a result we’ve seen steady traffic growth each month since we’ve launched.

Banner Ads

We currently offer ads on a pro-rated monthly basis. In addition we also offer sponsorship for our weekly podcast. The cost is $150 per month for an ad block. That’s a flat rate. We pro-rate it for the month, when we have availability, if your ads start in the middle of the month. CPM costs depend on actual traffic. But here’s an idea of the traffic we generate. We’re on track to generate 27,000 visits in May 2013.

This translates presently into ~34,000 page views. That’s a $4.41 CPM.

Podcast Sponsorship

Each Friday we release a new BUX Podcast. In its current format, the podcast is between 15-30 minutes long and tackles one UX topic each week. Each podcast has 1 sponsor. Sponsorship includes custom written ad copy at the top of the show. As of early January 2013, the average podcast is downloaded 220 times. The cost for sponsorship is $50 per podcast.

The Fine Print

We feel we have an obligation to our readership to keep the ads tasteful and relevant to topics of web usability and user testing. Further, we believe that any ad we run on our website is a tacit endorsement of the product or service being sold in the ad. As such, we will only run ads for products or services that we believe in. For this reason, we reserve the right to refuse sponsorship for any reason if we feel it’s not a good fit.
