Jenna and I were looking at this old post by Jakob Nielsen on his website, Alertbox that talked about how many users one needs to conduct a user test.
It turned out to be a great quick conversation for today’s podcast. The answer, if you’re wondering, is 5, for most purposes.
If you’re looking for insights, it’s 5.
If you’re looking for statistics, it’s 20.
If you’re card sorting, it’s 15.
For stable heatmaps, with eye tracking, you’ll want at least 39 participants.
Boom. Now you know! 🙂
