Better User Experience Podcast #26: Making Your Website More Effective by Using Narratives

On today’s podcast we elaborate on Friday’s post about innovation vs. iteration. Then we slide right into a good discussion about using narratives in websites to drive user action. We talk about how to do that (wizards, tours, etc.) and some best practices for implementing narratives into your site.

We also take a minute to savor the Superbowl, get geeked on some UX tools, and of course, to have a smoothie.

Smoothie of the Week: Thank You Berry Much

This smoothie is built on the spinach, banana, and apple base that we love and then we add a ton of raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries for a deliciously berry smoothie that’s crazy high in anti-oxidants as well as tons of other vitamins and minerals.

And in case you’re wondering, no, you can’t taste the spinach in the final smoothie. You can’t see even a hint of green either. So it’s a great way to get green veggies into the kids too.

  • two handfuls of spinach
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • several chunks of frozen banana
  • several chunks of frozen pineapple
  • an apple
  • 2-3 handfuls of mixed frozen blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries

Take the spinach and water and blend together first until well pureed. Add each ingredient one at a time making sure the one you added is thoroughly incorporated before adding the next. Serve immediately.

Oh, and we recommend using a VitaMix or a Blendtec blender if you’re making these bad boys. Lesser blenders will deliver lesser results.
